FAST FOOD NEWS: Burger King Crispy Buffalo Chicken Melt

Burger King Crispy Buffalo Chicken Melt

Since its debut in the spring, Burger King’s crispy chicken patty has gone through as many wardrobe changes as Lady Gaga has at one of her concerts.

It started with the original in March. About a month later, it was topped with bacon and American cheese. Then we saw the release of the Bacon Cheddar Ranch Crispy Chicken Sandwich in May, the BBQ Bacon Crispy Chicken Sandwich in June, and the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich in July. BK’s crispy chicken patty got a break in August, but it’s being showcased again with the Crispy Buffalo Chicken Melt.

The new sandwich is made with a seasoned and breaded 100 percent white meat chicken fillet that’s topped with Ken’s Buffalo Sauce and mozzarella on a toasted potato bun.

From the picture, it looks as if the Buffalo sauce is applied on both buns. It would’ve been neat, and messy, if the chicken patty was dunked in sauce, like the sandwich Sonic released several weeks ago.

The Crispy Buffalo Chicken Melt has 580 calories, 28 grams of fat, 8 grams of saturated fat, 0.5 grams of trans fat, 70 milligrams of cholesterol, 2310 milligrams of sodium, 56 grams of carbohydrates, 8 grams of sugar, and 30 grams of protein.

  1. It was different than Arby’s buffalo sauce, a brighter orange with less heat and a little thicker. Chicken was fine, you could tell the breading had some texture and crunch to it before succumbing to the moisture of the sauce. Cheddar or American would have been a waste and I’m glad BK used mozzarella. My only gripe with this sandwich is it’s wrapped in paper, I wish BK had clamshell containers for these. Would get again if I could sit and eat it inside, it is not driving food.
