SPOTTED ON SHELVES: Lay’s Chesapeake Bay Crab Spice Potato Chips

Lay s Chesapeake Bay Crab Spice Potato Chips

Oh, how I hate regional flavors! Oh wait, there’s eBay. Oh, how I love the internet! Oops, not a regional flavor. (Spotted by Brooke D at 7-Eleven.)

  1. I wonder if you can do the same effect by sprinkling old bay on the chips and would taste similar.

    1. more than likely yes. “Old Bay Crab Spiced Potato Chips” is a normal flavor from both Utz and Herrs. (I prefer the Utz. I find the Herrs to be just a tab bit too salty in addition to the bay spice).

  2. I’ve bought those, in Maine. They’re quite good, with just the right amount of seasoning. Would buy them again, if I stumble across them.

  3. Herr’s came out with Old Bay flavored potato chips, and they’re quite good. They also did a Chickie’s and Pete’s Famous Crabfries flavored potato chips, which I haven’t tried, but I suspect they are nearly the same as the Old Bay chips. The Lay’s chips will probably be similar in taste to those other two, which would be fine.

  4. Lays have had these before, and they’re spectacular, I wish they’d go national, because Old Bay is just a great spice blend. We could get Utz Crab chips in Indiana for a bit but the grocery chain carrying them closed.
