REVIEW: Mtn Dew Gingerbread Snap’d

Mtn Dew Gingerbread Snap d Bottle

When Mtn Dew Gingerbread Snap’d leaked several months ago, the promotional pictures showed the soda would be brown, and its name would be just Snap’d. But as we all know, a lot can change in a year. So here we are with a white-colored Mtn Dew with a longer name that makes me wonder two things:

  1. Was the color change made because this was supposed to end up as a winter/holiday mystery flavor?
  2. Was the brown color scrapped because it would be totally awkward if this flavor was known as the Dew Dew Dew?

For those of you not keeping track at home, Gingerbread Snap’d is the 623rd new Dew flavor of the year. Okay, there haven’t been THAT many, but the number of flavors Mtn Dew has put out this year across all its lines makes Oreo look lazy.

This festive soda is a Dew with a blast of artificial gingerbread flavor, and before even trying it, I thought, as odd as it sounds, it’s probably going to taste decent. After all, the Flamin’ Hot-flavored Dew ended up being not bad.

Oh boy, I was totally wrong.

It wasn’t decent. Instead, it was like two snaps and around the world fantastic.

Before I go on, I have to admit my thoughts about this Dew have been influenced by snacking friend @CandyHunting on Instagram. Basically, she thinks it tastes like a cola. (Click here to read her full explanation.) Having tried Gingerbread Snap’d and reading her thoughts about it, I can not NOT think this Dew is a cola in a ghost white-colored body.

Mtn Dew Gingerbread Snap d Label

The scent and taste of artificial gingerbread are the most noticeable in this bottle, but the Dew’s citrus is right behind, well within gingerbread’s personal space. That blend of spice and citrus gives Gingerbread Snap’d a kind of craft cola vibe. If this came in its originally planned brown color and wasn’t labeled, I think those who drank it would think it’s a cola (or even a cloudy, less gingery ginger ale).

Mtn Dew Gingerbread Snap’d is a surprisingly tasty holiday beverage. If you’re curious about it, you should definitely buy it because who knows if it’ll reappear next year or get replaced with Mtn Dew Pump’dkin Spice or something like that.

  1. Everybody’s taste buds are different but I absolutely hated this stuff. Nothing redeeming about it and can’t even give it away lol. Most of my friends have taken a drink or two then threw the rest of the can away!

    1. I absolutely LOVED this!!! I’m only an occasional soda person, but I snap’d up ( haha!) 3 cases of this stuff to get me thru Winter/Spring. Love love love it.?? Why? I love anything Ginger spice, pumpkin spice, clove, cinnamon, molasses, brown sugar. I fast all year & live for Autumnal food. ?This went great with apple pie, Gingerbread cookies and pumpkin cheesecake. Sweet potato fries too! Pepperoni pizza, eh not so much! ?

  2. This just seems like a bad idea all around and gives me a creepy Crystal Pepsi vibe just looking at it.

  3. I’m just going to say, I have no idea why everyone is hating on this. It tastes like gingerbread, as advertised, with, as the reviewer said, a slight hint of cola. I found it very enjoyable.

I sincerely think this is the closest thing we’ve had to 2004-2006’s Pepsi Holiday Spice in the best way possible. I realize it may not be for everyone, but don’t just read all the bad reviews here and forego it based on them – give it a try if you’re even the slightest bit curious. You may love it and you may hate it. You might even fall somewhere in between, but the point is, don’t knock it until or unless you’ve tried it first.

  4. Please-please-please, I am begging you as an advocate for diabetics worldwide..When any softdrink is created as a new flavor…Be sure you have it in DIET Or ZERO SUGAR as well. It frustrates the heck out of myself and others when we go grocery shopping and see the store shelves FILLED with Regular Sugar-Filled Soft drinks, but nearly nothing for diabetics..I thought everybody bitches about Americans being so morbidly obese, yet there’s hardly diet sodas on the shelves.

    1. Diet sodas are worse than regular sodas for non diabetics..:look up the health effects of artificial sweeteners…

    2. “.I thought everybody bitches about Americans being so morbidly obese, yet there’s hardly diet sodas on the shelves.”

i dont think the sodas are why americans are morbidly obese

  5. I LOVE it!! HAD with sweet potato fries & a burger. Had with apple pie & pumpkin cheesecake too. Honestly didn’t see the color as we purchased in 12pk cans…

  6. This is the most disgusting drink that has ever been made. Don’t waste your money or time on this one. Total failure of flavor!!!
