I received samples of last year’s Lucky Charms Magical Marshmallows. They sat in the fancy box they came in for months. I eventually opened it and learned I had two months to consume seven bags of them. I gave away one to someone who asked on Instagram for one after posting a photo of them and another bag was completely stale because one of its seams ripped. But I ate the rest before the Best By date, putting it on regular Cheerios and whatever cereals I received or purchased at the beginning of the year. Still not sick of Lucky Charms, though. (Spotted by Robbie at Target.)

“Damn FDA, why can’t they all be marshmallows.” Bart Simpson

    YES

I still have two bags from last year, lol.

I’ll probably be chastised for this comment/question, but: what the heckity-heck is the purpose of these? I ask with genuine curiosity. What is one supposed to do with these things? And why did they make all of the manufacturing efforts (and cost!) that they did, to merely feature a different shape on each of the seven boxes…especially since it appears as though all of the shapes already appear in all of the boxes, regardless of which one is “showcased”?

I just bought a box of Swiss Miss hot chocolate that contains packs of individual cocoa mix with separate packs of Lucky Charms marshmallows for each cup, so you could add these to hot chocolate (even if stale). I reckon you could also mix them into cookie or brownie batter, or perhaps even rice crispee treats, for a little texture.

Since the cereal part of Lucky Charms is cardboard-like and rather tasteless, I put them in better tasting cereal.

Get extremely excited to eat a bowl of Lucky Charms and not have to eat around the cereal bits or get upset when you swear that the box you bought had far less marshmallows than usual. AKA live out your childhood dreams as a now unsupervised adult.

Thanks, for your input, all. Everyone’s ideas, re how to use these things, make sense.

Hehe, it’s been really fun to hear them all! And helpful in the case that I do buy them on a whim and need help using them up before staling.

I put them in my homemade rice krispies treats 🙂

Ooooh! I bet they would be a fun mix in for a batch of Muddy Buddy mix.

I made Lucky Charms ice cream with mine last year. Steeped the cream and cereal for about 3 days in the fridge (so the ice cream would taste like cereal milk)- drained through cheesecloth and made a custard base as usual (could use any base style preferred)- ran the base through machine until soft set- stir in marbits- freeze until fully set.

Came out awesome and I’d suggest it to anyone who makes ice cream.

        Brilliant!

Oh, and at first I honestly just thought you were just starting to get caught in picture posting loops, Marvo, or that this release was a similar situation to the Ben and Jerry’s until I noticed the different ‘mallow shape featured on each box.

The only complaint I have about this product, is that the bag isn’t big enough. Needs more like a 2 lb bag!

Not Lucky Charms shaped, but Big Lots sells a 13oz bag of marshmallow bits
