  1. Pickled red onions are so easy to make it’s practically embarrassing. Why would anyone shell out 3 bucks (I’m guessing) for something you could make for $.10?

    1. The same reasons that people buy all of the other easily homemade for a fraction of the cost grocery store items I guess? While I agree with your sentiment, I’ve also come to realize that this argument can also be compared to those who work on their cars never understanding why others take theirs to a mechanic. That doesn’t mean I still don’t scoff at the majority of grocery store items! 🙂

And whoa! Looked up the price online…$5.49. Robbery!

      1. No offense, but I really don’t think the cars vs. pickling onions comparison works. Cars are really f’ing complicated, but any idiot can Google “how to pickle onions” and do it successfully. If you asked me to name four parts in a car, I could maybe think of four, at most.

    2. Same reason I go to taco bell, convenience

I buy the Mt Olive brands “Simply Vidalia’s” because Vidalia’s only appear a few weeks a year around here

      1. Yep. And like with baked goods: some people don’t make/consume them often enough to justify buying all of the ingredients and just having them sit there taking up space/going off.

Interesting to hear that about Vidalias. I’d never thought about that or really noticed it. Thanks for sending me down an internet rabbit hole reading up on their seasonality!

    3. Because not everyone (like *me*, for instance) has any interest in – or talent for – food preparation. I’m more than happy to pay for the convenience of having something pre-made for me.

  2. I loved the Cocoa Krispies the way they were, so I don’t know why they’re messing with it, but I hope this is actually an improvement… As for the Sun Chips, there is also a new black bean queso flavor. I think I liked the jalapeno one a bit better, but wasn’t really a fan of either one.
