  1. They have been promoting this for awhile now. Reviews so far have said it tastes like a richer, more complex version of the Tomato soup. According to the website:

“ This small batch release celebrates the brand’s iconic Tomato Soup infused with the flavors of a grilled cheese sandwich for the ultimate spoonful of flavor and comfort. The soup can be prepared with water for a more robust tomato taste, or with milk for a delightfully cheesier flavor.”

    1. Exactly the same thing I did. I also added crushed up crackers to the soup to thicken it. I thought about adding some shredded cheese to the soup, but I didn’t want to change the original flavor too much.

    2. The Giant in my area (DC Metro) had these on special (4 for $5) on National Grilled Cheese Day (4/12), so I finally got around to actually doing this yesterday (needed a self-care/comfort food day).

The instructions encourage the stovetop method with the milk preparation option, and I must say I highly recommend that as well. Definitely a more robust, complex flavor profile, which paired well with my grilled cheese sandwich.

I had some leftover croissant bread and gingerbread goat cheese to use up for the sandwich component, and dunking it into the soup for each bite was very satisfying. Since I have 3 other cans, I‘ll do a more traditional grilled cheese sandwich the next time around, and experiment with a few others. I might even serve the soup in a bread bowl with some extra cheese on top.
