REVIEW: Baskin-Robbins Fútbol Fireworks Ice Cream

Red White and Blue and Green

Baskin-Robbins forced me to learn how to type an acute accent above the u in “Fútbol” with its June 2026 Flavor of the Month, Fútbol Fireworks.

The scoop commemorating the upcoming 2026 World Cup features sweet cream soda ice cream, cherry-flavored sherbet, blue raspberry and green apple popping candy, and blue raspberry swirls. There’s a red, white, and blue theme going on. Not sure what the green is about, though. Maybe it represents the grass on the pitch? (Thanks for teaching me what a soccer field is called, Ted Lasso. Season 4 starts streaming on Apple TV+ on August 5, 2026. This is not an ad.) Or maybe the green represents the green on the Mexican flag, since the country is co-hosting the event with the US and Canada. Or maybe it’s leftover candy from a Shrek promotion years ago.

The popping candy is supposed to represent the fireworks, and much like the popping candy I’ve had in ice cream from other brands and every custom player I’ve created in EA’s FIFA, they were all duds. There was no popping of any kind, and I even did the thing where you open your mouth to let in more oxygen to help trigger the candy, which only made me look like I was a hungry hatchling in the middle of a somewhat crowded Baskin-Robbins location. Instead, all they offered was a crunch similar to Nerds, which isn’t a completely horrible thing since this scoop needed some texture. But on top of the lack of popping, the blue raspberry and green apple flavors the candies were supposed to provide were also absent.

The blue raspberry swirls added a slight grittiness and a strong tart berry flavor when I hit a big chunk of one. But most spoonfuls were dominated by the cherry sherbet, even when I managed to get some of the blue swirl.

I was most curious about the sweet cream soda ice cream, but I couldn’t identify it as sweet cream soda-flavored, even when tasting it on its own. What the ice cream base did offer was a way to temper the cherry sherbet somewhat, which made up the majority of my scoop. Without the ice cream, the whole scoop probably would’ve been way too heavily cherry.

For the most part, Fútbol Fireworks is a cherry-flavored scoop with some crunchy candy mixed in. It’s a bit ho-hum, but if cherry is your thing, you’ll probably enjoy it. Just don’t expect any fireworks.
