SPOTTED ON SHELVES: Cookies & Creme Oreo Chocolate Candy Bar

Cookies Creme Oreo Chocolate Candy Bar

This would be awesome if the white confection was milk chocolate, all the cookie bits were one long cookie, and the creme sat on that long cookie. You know what else would be awesome? Bring back Cookies n Creme Twix. (Spotted by John R at The City.)

QUICK REVIEW: Bubbies Chocolate Egg Nog and Peppermint Candy Mochi Ice Cream

Bubbies Holiday Flavors Mochi Ice Cream

What are Bubbies Chocolate Egg Nog and Peppermint Candy Mochi Ice Cream?

If you’re not familiar with mochi ice cream, it’s ice cream inside mochi, which is a chewy Japanese rice dough. I know “rice dough” might not seem delicious, but I assure you, the ice cream stands out and the mochi’s texture is a wonderful contrast to the creamy ice cream. One of the first companies to offer mochi ice cream, Bubbies, has two holiday flavors — Chocolate Egg Nog and Peppermint Candy.

How are they?

Bubbies Chocolate Egg Nog Mochi Ice Cream

Let’s start with the egg nog one because it’s the one I dream about when I close my eyes. It tastes like the holiday beverage in frozen treat form. While the nog spices excite my taste buds, the chocolate mochi exterior doesn’t come into play because the flavor of the ice cream is so rich and strong. But despite that, I adore these.

Bubbies Peppermint Candy Mochi Ice Cream

Peppermint Candy, on the other hand, doesn’t appear in my dreams, but the flavor is spot on. The level of mint is not intense. It’s slightly more sweet than minty, which is just like actually peppermint candy. The mochi exterior with this one also doesn’t play a significant role with the flavor. I enjoyed it, but it doesn’t make me want to go all mochi ice cream monster on the entire pack, like the other one does.

Is there anything else I need to know?

There are only six of them in each box, which go for about $5-$6 per box. And each one is about two inches in diameter and weigh 1.25 ounces. So if you do the math, it’s pricey for the amount of ice cream you get.

Also, while Bubbies is a company based in Hawaii, its mochi ice cream is available across the country. You can find them at Whole Foods and other grocers.

Conclusion:

Bubbies’ Chocolate Egg Nog and Peppermint Candy Mochi Ice Cream are great, but as you can tell from what I’ve written, I love the Chocolate Egg Nog way more because, full disclosure, I’m an egg nog hog.

DISCLOSURE: I received free samples from Bubbies, but doing so didn’t influence my review.

TIB’S SEASON OF GIVING 2018: DAY 4

20181219G4

On the fourth day of The Impulsive Buy’s Season of Giving 2018, we are offering:

One $10 Jack in the Box Gift Card

I’m not into drama, but, geez, Jack in the Box is going through some. The National Jack in the Box Franchisee Association wants the company to replace its CEO, Lenny Comma. If you want to read up on that, you can check out this post on Bloomberg. I like Jack in the Box, but it seems as if it’s lacking in the creativity department recently. It hasn’t done much with the Buttery Jack line or with the Munchie Meals, which are two product lines that allow for creativity. Oh well, let’s hope 2019 will be better.

RULES:

To enter this prize drawing for a $10 Jack in the Box Gift Card, leave a comment with THIS post. You can write whatever you want, but please don’t forget to fill out the email field because we’ll be emailing the randomly selected winner for his or her mailing address.

We will stop accepting entries on December 20, 2018 at 9:00 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time. Only one comment allowed per person, and it’s only open to U.S. residents 18 years old or older.

Just a note: If you post a comment but it’s not showing up, it ended up in our comment spam folder for some strange reason. There’s no need to attempt to post another comment. I’ll be pulling those comments out of the comment spam vortex throughout the day.

Good luck and don’t forget to come back tomorrow to find out what we’re giving away!

FINE PRINT: The Impulsive Buy promises your email address will not be used to send you emails telling you how to jazz up the flavor of your appetizers with olives. The Impulsive Buy also promises your mailing address will not be used to send you the cut off crusts from peanut butter sandwiches. Bribes will not be accepted. The Impulsive Buy will not be responsible for lost mail or damaged mail.
