FAST FOOD NEWS: Jack in the Box Big Cheesy Burgers

Jack in the Box Big Cheesy Burgers

Jack in the Box is testing a new line of burgers with a new 1/4 lb signature beef patty, a new toasted gourmet signature bun, and “crispy melted cheese,” which appears to be a breaded gooey cheese patty. According to one of the folks who sent us photos, the new line is meant to replace Jack’s Sirloin burgers. The Big Cheesy Burgers are available in two varieties: Original and Bacon.

The Big Cheesy Burgers were spotted at locations in Fresno and Visalia, California.

If you’ve spotted them at other locations, let us know in the comments. Or, if you’re tried them, share your thoughts in the comments.

10 Years

The Impulsive Buy turned 10 years old today.

Here are other numbers that might interest you: 3,306 posts, 1,671 reviews, and 30 pounds gained over the past 10 years. Man, if only I took pictures of my belly every day for the past 10 years, it would’ve made a great YouTube video. And when I say “great,” I mean “gross.”

With 10 years under my belt, which after putting on 30 pounds has turned into 10 years over my belt, I’ve decided to hang that belt up…

…And replace it with a longer belt that fits better and, perhaps, has some stretch to it. With that longer belt, The Impulsive Buy will continue to pump out junk food and fast food news and reviews to break the monotony of your workday, give you something to read while waiting in line, or encourage you to procrastinate.

The Impulsive Buy wouldn’t be what it is today if it weren’t for all of you readers out there. TIB’s readership has grown a lot over the past 10 years, more than I thought was possible. So from the bottom of my, possibly, cholesterol clogged heart, I say thank you. I’d also like to apologize for any weight you may have gained from eating products we’ve covered that made you feel great while eating, but later made you feel guilty.

The Impulsive Buy also wouldn’t be what it is today if if weren’t for the talented writers who, combined, have contributed hundreds of reviews and consumed thousands of calories. So I’d like to thank every former and current reviewer for writing the most entertaining junk food and fast food reviews on the internet.

Now that The Impulsive Buy is 10 years old, I decided to redesign the site. Okay, “redesign” makes it sound like I spent a lot of time and/or money building a new look from scratch, but it’s more like I downloaded a free WordPress theme and tweaked it to my liking. So you will definitely find other blogs that look like what TIB looks like now.

Even though the look has changed, it’s still laid out the same. There’s the full content when you visit the site, full content in the RSS feed, and a whole bunch of ads in the right column. The site is now mobile responsive, which means if you’re viewing it on a smartphone or tablet, you’ll get a version of the site that will look good on them.

If you’re a long time reader, you might remember a section of the site called “Complete Review Archive.” It was a chronological list of every review posted. In 2012, I got rid of it because the blogging software I used would choke on the long list. Well, I decided with the redesign, I would bring the Complete Review Archive back, but split the list into smaller ones that would have reviews from each year. You’ll see these lists under the “Reviews” link in the menu at the top of the page. The lists for 2013 and 2014 aren’t up, but will be up soon-ish. However, the lists for 2004-2012 are up, so if you want to read up on many discontinued products, then you will find hours of enjoyment within those lists.

Enjoy the new look and, once again, thank you for reading The Impulsive Buy.

FAST FOOD NEWS: Jack in the Box Grande Sausage and Meat Lovers Breakfast Burritos

Jack in the Box New Breakfast Burritos

Jack in the Box has bigger breakfast burritos to begin your bay….I mean, day. (Or whenever you like since Jack in the Box offers their breakfast all day.)

The Grande Sausage Breakfast Burrito is stuffed with eggs, cheddar and pepper jack cheeses, sausage, hash browns, bacon, and Jack’s new creamy sriracha sauce. The Meat Lovers Breakfast Burrito comes with eggs, cheddar and pepper jack cheeses, sausage, ham, and bacon. Both use a large Guerrero Tortilla, come with a side of fire-roasted salsa, and are wrapped in foil. Oooh, foil! Fancy!

The Grande Sausage Burrito has 1044 calories, 70 grams of fat, 20 grams of saturated fat, 1 gram of trans fat, 391 milligrams of cholesterol, 2131 milligrams of sodium, 68 grams of carbohydrates, 5 grams of fiber, and 36 grams of protein. Surprisingly, the Meat Lovers Burritos is slightly healthier than the Grande Sausage. (It must be the ham.) It has 790 calories, 50 grams of fat, 21 grams of saturated fat, 1 gram of trans fat, 411 milligrams of cholesterol, 1706 milligrams of sodium, 50 grams of carbohydrates, 3 grams of fiber, and 39 grams of protein.

Jack in the Box Croissant Donuts

Jack in the Box has also rolled out their Croissant Donuts, which we wrote about when they were testing it a few weeks ago. These fast food cronuts are sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and are available in one or three-pieces servings.
