NEWS: Pizza Hut’s P’Zolo Has a P’zzling Name

Pizza Hut, Fernandina Beach, FL (Amelia Island)

Update: Click here to read our Pizza Hut P’Zolo review.

I understand Pizza Hut’s P’Zone is just a calzone with a p’culiar name. But I don’t know what Italian dish name Pizza Hut has butchered with their new P’Zolo. Of course, my expertise with Italian food doesn’t go beyond the Bucca di Beppo and Macaroni Grill menus, so I’m probably missing something.

The new Pizza Hut P’Zolo comes in three varieties: Meat Trio, Buffalo Chicken, and Italian Steak.

The Meat Trio is filled with Italian sausage, pepperoni, and ham, and is topped Asiago cheese; the Buffalo Chicken P’Zolo is stuffed with grilled chicken breast strips covered with a spicy buffalo sauce and topped with Asiago cheese; and the Italian Steak is made up of marinated steak, roasted peppers, onions and mushrooms with Asiago cheese.

Each P’Zolo comes with either ranch or marinara dipping sauce. Although you could pour it over the P’Zolo or into the P’Zolo every time you take a bite, like I do with Taco Bell burritos.

They’re available at an introductory price of three dollars each or two for five dollars.

If you’ve tried the Pizza Hut P’Zolo, let us know what you think of them in the comments below.

NEWS: Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s Add The Word ‘Amazing’ To Their Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger

Hardee's in Zamalek

The Carl’s Jr./Hardee’s Amazing Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger isn’t new. Well, the addition of the word “Amazing” and the promotional tie-in with the upcoming release of The Amazing Spider-Man is new, but everything else, not so much.

Here’s a 2010 review from An Immovable Feast. Here’s another review from Junk Food Betty. And, here’s a review from A Hamburger Today. In case you’re scared to jump down the rabbit hole of Carl’s Jr. Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger reviews, they weren’t favorable.

The 2012 version consists of a charbroiled beef patty, bacon, American cheese, Swiss cheese, mayo, grilled bread, and the word “Amazing.” In order to earn the word “Amazing,” I hope every cow and pig used to make the Amazing Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger was bitten by a radioactive spider. That would be awesome! Oh wait…That would be amazing! Prices for the burger start at $3.29 and may vary by location.

On July 4th, the day after the movie is released, Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s will be holding a “Spider-Man Eats Free” promotion at their restaurants. Any guest who comes to one of their restaurants dressed as Spider-Man will receive a free Amazing Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger.

That’s amazing, but it would be even more so if one could also get a free drink and fries for singing the theme song from the original Spider-Man cartoon.

NEWS: Taco Bell Puts Beef Nachos In A Burrito and Calls It, Predictably, The Beefy Nacho Burrito

First stop, Taco Bell

Are you tired of Living Más with Taco Bell’s Doritos Locos Taco?

Well, your Taco Bell jonesing taste buds will get to try something different this week when the fast food chain releases their new Beefy Nacho Burrito for only 99 cents.

The latest menu item consists of a flour tortilla stuffed with seasoned beef, Taco Bell’s nacho cheese sauce, sour cream, and their new Queso Strips, which are crunchy queso-seasoned chips. Taco Bell’s Beefy Nacho Burritos, not to be confused with their Beefy Crunch Burrito or their Beefy 5-Layer Burrito, is supposed to taste like nachos wrapped in a burrito. It’s not a big burrito. At 6.7 ounces, it’s slightly lighter than a Taco Bell bean burrito.

As we mentioned earlier, the Beefy Nacho Burrito will be available for just 99 cents. It’s also available as part of a $3.99 combo, which includes two crunchy tacos and a large drink.

Hey, people who were born in the 1990s and make me feel old! You can enjoy Cold Stone Creamery ice cream treats inspired by the stuff your grandparents might’ve shared in the 1950s on a date at an ice cream parlor before going home and conceiving your parents.

Each flavor is the base for two new Cold Stone Creations, Cherry Vanilla Cherry Pie (Cherry Vanilla Ice Cream with black cherries, graham cracker pie crust, and caramel) and Malt My Heart with Chocolate (Chocolate Malt Ice Cream with bananas, fudge, and whipped topping).

Cold Stone is also offering a line of desserts called Retro Classics, which include a Classic Hot Fudge Sundae, Classic Turtle Sundae, Classic Banana Royale, and Classic Root Beer Float. Don’t know what a Turtle Sundae or Banana Royale is? Ask your grandparents…or Wikipedia.
