REVIEW: Wendy’s Grilled Chicken Ranch Wrap

For a minute there it was a wrap on fast food wraps.

Sure, you could easily get sixty-four wrap-adjacent offerings at Taco Bell or wrap-ish Gyros at Arby’s, but the rest of the wraps got scrapped.

McDonald’s axed my beloved Crispy Chicken Ranch Snack Wraps years ago. BK seems to flirt with everything but wraps, even going so far as to try gross Jack in the Box taco clones. I went to KFC the other day and it apparently already stopped selling its new snack wraps.

Where are the wraps?!

They’re at Wendy’s. Well, one is at Wendy’s, at least. After years of a wrap-less menu, Wendy’s is back with a Grilled Chicken Ranch Wrap.

Perhaps it’s just me, but wraps are completely necessary for a fast-food menu. Sometimes I want a lazy bite to eat that’ll fill me up but won’t bog me down, and a grilled chicken wrap seems like the perfect answer. Wendy’s almost gets it right here, but it needs some adjustments.

First of all, the wrap itself is a weird size. It’s somehow too big and too small at the same time. If the wrap was stuffed with chicken, it would be too big, but since it was mostly stuffed with lettuce, it’s too small. This was about as much of a messy salad as it was a chicken wrap.

I mean, outside of that, it’s essentially what you think it is. I wouldn’t say Wendy’s necessarily excels at grilled chicken, but for something like this, it makes more sense. My chicken pieces were a little on the chewy and slimy side, if I’m being honest, and while I don’t opt for its grilled fare much, that’s kinda always been my experience with it. Would I have preferred fried chicken? Absolutely, but I also like the idea of a healthier meal when it comes to a wrap.

There’s plenty of ranch dressing and probably not enough cheddar, but it wouldn’t matter because all that would just get swallowed up by the head of lettuce. Again, while the wrap is bigger than the typical “snack” wraps, it’s not very substantial because most of it is tortilla and ruffage.

If this was smaller at a lower price point, I’d like it more. If it was dense with chicken like a burrito, I’d like it more. As it is, it’s just passable and probably not worth your time or money.

So, I’m happy to see a wrap back on the Wendy’s menu, but I wish it was something I could just swing by and get as a midday snack. These don’t hold a candle to the late McDonald’s Crispy Chicken Snack Wraps, but few things do.

My recommendation would be to wait and see if the line expands. Maybe there will be a spicy variety soon, and I could see that easily being superior. For now, there are much better chicken options to get at Wendy’s.

  1. Oh wow, $5.99? Even with the lackluster review it received I was still interested in trying it until I saw that price. I know, I’m still living in the times of the $1.49 snack wrap at McDonald’s. Damn I loved those things.

      1. Not really. It’s an economics term and has its place, so maybe it just doesn’t mean anything to you.

      2. Tell me you’ve never taken a higher education econ class without saying it. You weirdly like to pee in everyone’s Cheerios, huh Anastasia?

  2. These are solid but too expensive IMO. Like you I was excited for a wrap. I now just go to Taco Bell and get the Chipotle Ranch Grilled Chicken burrito for $2.50. The Wendy’s wrap has a little more chicken but not enough for the huge price difference.

  3. I miss McDonald’s grilled chicken ranch snack wrap. I’ve never tried fried chicken wrap – too many calories. The Wendy’s chicken wrap doesn’t sound very good. I appreciate Justin’s Taco Bell chipotle ranch grilled chicken burrito suggestion. I also like Arby’s gyros.

  4. I got this off DoorDash and it was like $7.99 or something. I know prices are a bit higher there but I was like gosh how much is it to begin with lol. Also I found it weird you couldn’t pick grilled / spicy / crispy like the other sandwiches. Mine actually came w crispy by mistake though! I later saw all the sandwiches wouldn’t let you pick grilled so they must have just been out of grilled filets at the time. I liked it but def too expensive and should come w bacon at that price (you can add it but another $2!) As others said Arbys has pretty good wraps. They got rid of their Mediterranean chicken one that was my favorite tho.

    1. I heard they no longer have grilled chicken fillets, just the cubed/chunk pieces like in the wrap here.

      1. Seriously? I bought one like 2 weeks ago. All the fast food restaurants, except Chick-fil-A, have discontinued their grilled chicken burgers. BOOOO! Wonder why they’ve all them?

  5. I completely agree. Not enough chicken, not enough of everything. Will not get again. Too expensive .

  6. Was going these would be a version of the snack wraps, didn’t realize the size and price point of these things. I agree with a couple others, at that price level these look far below the quality of the Arby’s wraps.

  7. I just tried my first Wendy’s Chicken Wrap. Awful. So I looked up to see what others think and found your review. You’re right on target. It was mostly lettuce with a few little chunks of overdone dried out chicken. Didn’t even have much ranch dressing. I liked their grilled chicken sandwiches that were always fresh, tender and favorable with honey mustard. What a disappointing replacement.

  8. I love Wendy’s grilled chicken sandwich, too. Right now, it is the only fast food grilled sandwich to buy. I have no idea why they all stopped selling them.

  9. I didn’t care for it! It was soaking in Ranch dressing. More like a soup! The chicken was alright, I guess! There were bits of tasteless cheese floating around and I got mainly the spine of the lettuce. The wrap was the tastiest portion of it. Not impressed!
